Kathmandu, February 17. Former US President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued an open letter against the Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Days after McConnell voted to acquit Trump in his second impeachment trial, Trump said in a PAC statement, “Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again.”

Earlier on Saturday, McConnell had tagged Trump actions of inciting the Capitol riot as “disgraceful dereliction of duty”. He also claimed that Trump should be found “guilty as hell” because he was “still liable for everything he did while in office”.

McConnell and Trump had worker together for four years during Trump’s presidency. But, now the conflict exposed between the two is likely to affect the future of the Republican party.

Since Trump left the White House last month, he had remained silent and was also banned from using several social media services including Twitter. On the other hand, his administration has been facing severe criticisms.

Earlier on Tuesday, Leading House Democrat Bennie Thompson filed a 32-page lawsuit claiming that Trump and his allies had key involvement in the capitol riot, that was a part of the planned campaign, specifically designed and executed “to interfere with the legal processes of the elections”.
