US Companies start to make vegan milk and honey
Kathmandu, March 24. Melibio, company in the US, has started to produce honey without bees. Darko Mandich, co-founder and executive of the company has said that since vegan people miss certain foods, they decided to produce honey without bees.
They use fermentation process in their labs to build basic blocks of honey that is fructose and glucose. They also use micro-organisms to help in the process.
Many other start-up companies, such as Better Dairy have started to make milk and cheese through yeast fermentation. Their technology uses the input to convert it into dairy.
Similar process and techniques are applied to produce egg whites at Clara Foods. They hope to become the largest egg whites producers by 2028.
The products formed through these techniques are molecularly identical, so there is a chance that they would be better than the original food product.
