Kathmandu, Aug 16. The Afghan government collapsed as the Taliban took over the capital Kabul. President Ashraf Ghani has fled the country and has revealed through his social media handle that he did so to avoid further bloodshed.
Thousands of people have been trying to flee the capital as the Taliban captured the city. Disturbing footages of the Kabul airport in social media have shown people overcrowding and trying to climb an air-stair which is already full.
At least five people have been killed as thousands of people forcibly tried to enter planes that were leaving from the airport.
The US troops to fired in the air to bring the situation under control. All commercial flights is also said to have been cancelled.
