Kathmandu, February 13. Some airlines have started to cancel or divert their flights to Ukraine as fears of invasion from Russia is increased.

During an hour-long call between Putin and Biden, it is revealed that Biden said that it will cause “widespread human suffering” if Russia moved forward towards invading Ukraine. Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan warned that US intelligence shows a Russian invasion could begin within days, after which the two presidents had a talk.

While Russia denies its intention to invade, 100,000 troops have been placed near the Ukrainian border and troops have been sent for exercises in neighboring Belarus.

US has already started to evacuate its staff, preparing for worst case scenario. Russia has put up demands to the west to keep the former Soviet countries out of NATO. They also want to roll back alliance forces from Europe along with another demand of NATO refraining from deploying weapons near their border. Their demands have been rejected by the west.

Dutch airline KLM has cancelled its flights to Ukraine until further notice whereas Ukrainian charter airline SkyUp has diverted their flights.
