‘Muted’ DM feature on Instagram: how to send one

Kathmandu, February 13. Instagram has a feature of sending muted direct messages (DMs), just in case one does not want to send the message with the notification or to disturb the receiver if the message is sent during odd hours. The feature also works if the message is not important to be called for immediate attention.
A person mutes an individual or group chat when they don’t want to be bothered by the messages by someone or a group chat. The muted DM feature allows the sender to send the message without any notification sound.
Following are the steps to send a muted DM:
- Open Instagram
- Tap on the ‘DM’ button on the above right corner
- Choose the contact whom you want to send the message
- Type @silent before your message [@silent <space> message]
- Tap on send button
