Kathmandu, Oct 25: Nepal suffered a 3–0 loss to Iran in their opening match of the triangular international friendly tournament held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.
With this victory, Iran claimed their second consecutive title in the tournament. Earlier, Iran had defeated India 2–0 in the first match.
Nepal is scheduled to play their next game against India on Monday. After the tournament concludes, Nepal and India will face off again in an additional friendly match in November.
