Nepal Announces 26-Member Preliminary Squad for Women’s T20 World Cup
Kathmandu, Dec 4: Nepal has announced a 26-member preliminary squad for the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup qualifiers. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) released the list on Thursday.
The squad includes Indu Burma, Rajmati Airy, Sita Rana Magar, Samjhana Khadka, Kavita Joshi, Riya Sharma, Somu Bista, Rachna Choudhary, Rubi Podar, Pooja Mahato, Kavita Kunwar, Sarushta Prabina Chhetri, Roma Thapa, Soni Pakhrin, Bindu Rawal, Laxmi Saud, Manisha Upadhyay, Semana KC, Anu Kadayat, Kajol Shrestha, Kiran Kunwar, Asmina Karmacharya and Mamata Choudhary.
The team is set to begin closed training at Mulpani Cricket Ground from Friday, after which the final squad will be confirmed.
Nepal will host the global qualifier tournament from January 12 to February. Ten countries will participate, with the top four securing places in the 2026 Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in England.
Ireland, Scotland, Thailand, the United States and Zimbabwe are placed in Group A. Group B features Bangladesh, Namibia, the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea.
