Hamas Commander Mohammed Odeh Killed in Israeli Strike on Gaza
Kathmandu, May 27:Hamas commander Mohammed Odeh has reportedly been killed in Israel’s latest military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
According to reports, Israeli forces targeted a residential building in a crowded area of Gaza City on Tuesday, killing at least three Palestinians and injuring several others. The strike reportedly focused on locations believed to be used as hideouts by Odeh.
Israeli military and security agencies said the operation followed months of surveillance and monitoring of Odeh’s activities. Hamas has not yet officially confirmed the death.
However, local Hamas-linked sources and family members stated that Odeh, his wife and their adult son were killed in the attack.
Witnesses said the strike occurred while markets were crowded with shoppers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha celebrations. According to reports, at least five missiles hit the building almost simultaneously from different directions.
The killing comes after another senior Hamas military commander was reportedly killed in an earlier Israeli strike.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 72,800 people have been killed in Israeli military operations launched after Hamas’s October 7 attack. The United Nations has previously described the ministry’s casualty figures as generally reliable.
