Nepal Police in Jhapa captured illegal goods including firecrackers worth Rs. 17 lakhs
Jhapa. In the last 2 days, Nepal Police in Jhapa have confiscated goods worth approximately Rs. 17 lakhs. On Wednesday, Fancy clothing materials being brought from India evading taxes had been seized at the Kakarvitta costumes.
During a security check conducted on the same day, 13 sacks full of firecrackers worth Rs 7 lakhs were seized from two locals who were sent to the Area Police Office in Dhulabari for further legal procedures, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Prasad Koirala.
“With the festivals of Tihar and Chhath approaching, there are more chances of firecrackers and other goods being smuggled into Nepal,” said SP Koirala. “The police have increased the patrol and inspection in the border area.”
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Thapa informed that the Police have captured illegal goods worth 3 lakhs from Bhadrapur Municipality on Wednesday. The confiscated goods are kept at the Bhadrapur police Station for further necessary investigation.
