MoHA forms three-member committee to investigate Bardibas incident
Kathmandu. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has formed a committee to investigate the case of the death of a man by police firing at Bardibas of Mahottari District.
On Tuesday, there had been a demonstration against the rape and murder of six-year-old Gulab Shah Khatun of Bardibas-14. As the protest turned riotous, the police had to fire bullets at the agitators. This had led to the death of Buddhi Raj Neupane, one of the protesters. He had been wounded on the thigh and had died on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at Grande Hospital in Kathmandu.
The news of the death of Neupane made the situation worse, leading the DAO to issue a curfew order.
The protest demonstrations ended after the agitators and the local administration reached an agreement to provide atonement money to the deceased girl’s and Buddhi Raj Neupane’s family. They had also decided to announce Buddhi Raj a martyr and find and punish the culprits in both cases.
The (MoHA) had formed the three-member investigation committee immediately after the agreement and the cessation of the agitation. The ministry has stated that the investigation team is led by an undersecretary.
