Office of the President of Nepal’s Twitter account hacked

Kathmandu. The Twitter account of the Office of the President of Nepal (@SHITALNIWAS) that was utilized to disseminate the information about the affairs of the institution was hacked, causing the concerned authorities to deactivate the account.

Tika Dhakal, who has been appointed by President Bidya Devi Bhandari as the press expert, confirmed that the account that had been verified for just two days, had to be shut down. The Office has claimed that it was seeking to make a new account operational. Dhakal has commented that the account will soon be opened under a different handle.

According to Dhakal, the account was accessed from various unauthorized and unidentified locations. He further mentioned that prior to closing the account, he had discussed the matter with the government’s information technology officials as well.

He additionally informed that the President’s account is also in the process of being verified. Prior to this incident, comments were disabled on her twitter account, which drew criticism from various individuals.
