Rank of honorary General of the Nepali Army to be conferred on Indian COAS today

Kathmandu. Late in the afternoon today, President Bidya Devi Bhandari will confer the rank of honorary General of the Nepali Army on the Indian Chief of Army Staff Manoj Mukund Naravane, continuing the 70-year-old tradition between the armies of Nepal and India.

He is scheduled to brief the Nepali Army from 11:25 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. today, followed by the distribution of medical equipment. He will have lunch at the Indian Embassy at 12:30 p.m. He will finally reach Shital Niwas at 3:40 p.m., where the rank conferring ceremony is scheduled to be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

After receiving the honorary rank from the President, General Naravane will go to the Nepal Army Headquarters to attend a dinner hosted by COAS Purna Chandra Thapa. The Indian Chief shall return to Soaltee Hotel at around 9:30 p.m.

On the first day of his visit, yesterday, the Indian COAS visited Pashupatinath Temple and viewed the aarti while dressed up in a civilian outfit. He also visited the Kumari Temple in Hanumandhoka.
