Kathmandu, February 3.  There has been a surge in the students taking admission in Durbar High School. China constructed the new school building after the previous structures were destroyed by the 2015 earthquake.

The Chinese government said to have spent US$ 7.24 million for the reconstruction. The physical infrastructure including classrooms, labs and desks are posing to be major attractions that are bringing in students even from private schools.

Durbar High School runs two schools in their premises namely, Sanskrit School and Bhanu School. Previously, the school had only 438 students but now they have 626 students. Students from private schools have been getting their admission viewing better building and infrastructural facilities compared to their schools.

The school has the capacity to accommodate 1,000 students with 42 classrooms. The building foundation was laid in 2018 with the building handed over to the school administration in September 2020.

Teachers seem excited for the newfound reputation for the school but are concerned about their next challenge of providing quality education.
