Kathmandu, May 3. China is donating 20,000 oxygen cylinders as Nepal continues to battle the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic along with other countries around the world.

According to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, China has agreed to provide the oxygen gas cylinders and efforts are being made to bring them to Nepal. Preparations are being made to import them both from the land route and air routes, according to officials at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

China has pledged to provide Nepal with an additional grant of medical equipment and materials equivalent to RMB 5 million (approximately NRs 92 million) to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi had made the announcement last week during a video conference of foreign ministers of different countries in South Asia.
