Nepal requests UNESCO to increase funds for “education”

Kathmandu, November 18. Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Devendra Poudel, has urged international organizations including UNESCO to increase assistance for Nepal’s educational development and continuity of teaching-learning activities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Minister Poudel, who returned home after taking part in the 41st UNESCO general convention organized at Paris of France, said that he requested the representatives of international organizations to that end. 

He said that support of the international community was necessary as the emphasis should be laid on skill-oriented and educational quality in order to create employment opportunities in the country. 

Secretary at the Education Ministry, Ram Prasad Thapaliya, Deputy Secretary-General of Nepal National Commission for UNESCO, Dr. Babu Ram Adhikari were in the delegation led by Minister Poudel.
