Kathmandu, November 29. A temple in Thailand has been left with no monks after all of them failed drug tests. The Buddhist temple, located in central Thailand had all of the four monks defrocked.

Defrocking means depriving monks of their rights and status. Further, four monks including their head tested positive for methamphetamine on Monday, as revealed by an official to AFP.

People in Thailand are worried they cannot do merit making as the temple is empty without monks.

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Thailand is a major transit country for methamphetamine coming in from Myanmar via Laos.
