Kathmandu, February 24. Due to a lack of coal supplies, the Hetauda cement industry was forced to close for two weeks. The industry resumed operations on Friday.

The management opened bidding for the supply of 8,000 metric tonnes of coal. After two weeks of shutdown, the industry received only 1,600 metric tonnes of coal.

“The supplied amount of coal will last only 15 days,” industry’s deputy general manager Nabin Kumar Karna said.

The industry was previously getting coal supplies from India, Bhutan, Indonesia and Pakistan.
