Her father had been sick and passed away while her mother and other family members were in Australia to watch her play in the final match. They chose to tell her after the celebration of their victory.
Olga expressed that she felt her father’s presence with her during the game, and she dedicated her achievement to him. She shared a photo of her kissing her winners’ medal on social media.
Despite the sad news, Olga celebrated with her team after the match and even participated in the trophy presentation. She scored the winning goal in the final against England and had also scored a crucial goal in the semifinals. Her performance earned her the title of the final’s most valuable player.
