Kathmandu, Aug 28: Eleven members of the Spanish women’s soccer coaching staff resigned on Saturday due to their strong disapproval of how Luis Rubiales, the head of the team, treated Jenni Hermoso. Despite this, the main coach, Jorge Vilda, remains in his position. He distanced himself from Rubiales, expressing regret that the success of women’s soccer was overshadowed by Rubiales’ inappropriate behavior.

FIFA, the organization that oversees soccer, suspended Rubiales from any soccer-related activities for 90 days while they investigate the situation. This decision gained support from the Spanish government. They see this as a confirmation that their approach aligns with international soccer’s principles. Rubiales is under investigation by both FIFA and the Spanish Football Federation, but he can only be removed from his role through a legal decision.

In response to the controversy, 81 Spanish players, including the entire team of 23 World champions, declared that they would go on strike and refuse to play until Rubiales steps down from his position.
