Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane Sentenced to 8 Years Imprisonment for Rape

Kathmandu, Jan 10: In a recent development, cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been sentenced to 8 years in prison by the Kathmandu District Court in a rape case. The court, headed by Judge Shishirraj Dhakal, also imposed a fine of three lakhs on Lamichhane.

This verdict follows the court’s decision on January 13, where Lamichhane was found guilty in the Gaushala 26 rape case. The court took into consideration the victim’s financial situation and deemed the crime as an abuse of power.

As part of the sentencing, Lamichhane has been ordered to pay a fine of Rs 3 lakhs, and an additional Rs 5 lakhs as compensation to the victim. The case has garnered significant attention, and further details may emerge as the legal process unfolds.
