Kathmandu, Nov 22: China has urged all parties involved in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war to exercise calm and restraint as hostilities intensify with missile strikes from both sides.

The appeal from the Chinese government follows reports of Russia launching ballistic missiles at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, while Ukraine retaliated with long-range missiles supplied by Western nations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized the importance of dialogue, stating, “All parties should conduct dialogue and consultation to create a favorable environment for a ceasefire.” He reiterated China’s consistent stance on the Ukraine issue, advocating for political solutions to prevent further escalation.

The conflict has seen heightened tensions, with Russian President Vladimir Putin labeling the attack on Dnipro a response to Ukrainian strikes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Russia’s use of new ballistic missiles, warning that it is escalating the war to a more dangerous level.

China’s call for restraint reflects its position as a mediator seeking de-escalation amid the ongoing conflict.
