Extreme rainfall in Lumbini and Gandaki till Saturday

Kathmandu, June 16. The Department Of Hydrology and Meteorology in a bulletin announced that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in most parts of Nepal for the next three days.

The Department has also alerted all concerned over the possibility of floods and landslides till Saturday. Meteorologist Manju Basi informed that the monsoon winds, causing heavy rainfall in most parts of the country, will lose their pace only after Saturday.

The Department has forecasted heavy rainfall in Karnali and Bagmati provinces and extreme rainfall in Lumbini and Gandaki provinces. The hilly areas of these provinces are at high risk for mudslides and landslides.

In the 24-hour duration ending at 8.45 a.m. on Wednesday, the Pokhara observatory recorded 110.5 milliliters of rainfall, the highest in the country. Kathmandu received only 12.4 milliliters of rainfall in the same time period.
