Kathmandu, February 28. According to a new assessment by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC), the impacts of climate change will be more disruptive and far greater than understood before.

As a part of the sixth assessment report that it conducts periodically, IPCC has warned that climate change induced disasters are to take place in different parts of the world. The report was released on Monday.

The last report released on August revealed that the 1.5 degree increment in temperature will be reached before 2040.

The report says, “Based on increased observations and a better understanding of processes, we now know that the extent and magnitude of climate change impacts on nature are greater than previously assessed. The impacts we see today are appearing much faster, they are more disruptive and more widespread than we expected 20 years ago”.

It also reveals that “incremental” or “marginal” changes will not be enough.

The report has highlighted the lack of commitment and funding towards climate change.
