Kathmandu, March 1. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Monday has expressed concern regarding Russia putting their nuclear forces in high alert. He said that it is a ‘chilling development’.
He said, “The fighting in Ukraine must stop. It is raging across the country, from air, land and sea. It must stop now”.
The UNSC called for emergency special session in the General Assembly for the first time in 40 years , for the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
UN chief Guterres said that as Ukraine is facing a tragedy, the nuclear forces being kept on high alert could pose unwanted consequences for all. He added that use of nuclear forces is not justifiable.
