Nepal Women’s Cricket Team Kicks Off ACC Women’s Premier Cup Campaign
Kathmandu, Feb 10: Today marks the commencement of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia, where Nepal’s Women’s Cricket Team is set to compete against Hong Kong in their first match. Scheduled in the T-20 format, the game will begin at 7:15 am Nepali time.
Placed in Group ‘D’, Nepal will face tough competition from Hong Kong, Maldives, and Bhutan throughout the tournament. Following their match against Hong Kong today, Nepal will play against Bhutan on February 11 and Maldives on February 13.
The ACC Women’s Premier Cup features teams from various nations including hosts Malaysia, Thailand, UAE, Indonesia, and others. The tournament, running from February 10 to 18, holds significant stakes as the winners and runners-up will qualify for the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024, while semi-finalists will secure a spot in the ACC Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2025.
Under the leadership of captain Indu Burma, Nepal’s squad comprises talented players such as Bindu Rawal, Rubina Chhetri, and Sita Rana Magar, among others. Supported by head coach Manoj Katwal, coach Janaki Bhatt, physio Kamala Shrestha, and manager Ambika Budhathoki, the team is determined to make a mark in the prestigious tournament.
