PM Karki Says Government Ready for March 7 Elections, Urges Support for Youth Leadership
Kathmandu, Dec 4: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that all preparations are underway to hold the general election on March 7, with the objective of handing over power to the youth.
Addressing the 22nd National Jyapu Day celebrations in Basantapur on Thursday, she said the government was fully prepared to conduct the polls on the announced date.
“It is our duty to hand over power to the youth force and take the country forward on the path of rapid development. Therefore, the government is fully prepared with the aim of holding the election on the announced date. I expect the cooperation of all Nepalis to make this campaign a success,” she said.
Karki stated that lessons should be learned from the events of the Genji movement and that demands raised by young citizens must be addressed.
“Learning from the events of September 10 and 11 with the Genji movement, the youth force of the country has demanded an end to corruption, restoration of good governance and employment for the common citizens. Everyone must be determined to fulfill these wishes,” she said.
The Prime Minister also remarked that Guthis and local levels play an important role in preserving traditional festivals and culture in Kathmandu.
