Kathmandu. Chennai Super Kings, the second most successful team in the history of The Indian Premier League (IPL), failed to reach the playoffs for the first time this season. The team was unsuccessful for the first time while being led by one of India’s most prominent captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni, the most expensive batsmen this season did not get a run from his bat but the team paid him highly. Five captains are on the list of the most expensive six batsmen this season, amongst whom Dhoni is the most expensive.

Dhoni has played 14 games this season in which he scored only 200 runs at an average of 25 performing worse than first timer Ruturaj Gaikwad of Chennai who scored 204 runs in just six games. Chennai had bought Gaikwad for Rs. 20 lakhs.

Among the most expensive batsmen of the season, David Warner’s performance was worth the price. Warner, bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 12.5 crores scored 548 runs in 16 games. The most successful captain was Rohit Sharma of the Mumbai Indians who led his team to its fifth IPL title.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the most expensive batsman this season.

Dhoni, who scored 200 runs in 14 games, was valued at Rs 7.5 lakh per run. He was bought by Chennai for Rs 15 crores. Virat Kohli worth Rs. 17 lakhs scored 466 runs in 15 games which each of his run was worth Rs 3.64 lakh.
