Kathmandu, July 7. The Dalai Lama, who celebrated his 86th birthday on Tuesday, said he has taken full advantage of India’s independence and religious peace and is dedicated to reviving ancient Indian knowledge.

The Tibetan spiritual leader aired a virtual speech from his house and thanked people from all around the world for greeting him on his birthday. He also said that he will continue to serve mankind and battle climate change.

The Dalai Lama, whose true name is Tenzin Gyatso, said, ‘I’ve taken full advantage of India’s freedom and religious peace since becoming a refugee and settling in the country … I want to tell you that I am devoted for the remainder of my life to restoring old Indian wisdom.’

Lama also said that he admires the Indian notion of secular principles that are not based on religion, such as honesty, karuna (compassion), and ahimsa (non-violence). He also advised people to be kind to one another and embrace nonviolence. “These two things will be my gift on my birthday”.

“I am just one human being. Many people really show they love me. And many people actually love my smile. In spite of my old age, my face is quite handsome. Many people really show me genuine friendship,” Lama added.
