Women volleyball team awarded with 68 lakh cash prize

Kathmandu, February 4. The National Women’s Volleyball Team, who won the 2021 edition of the Asian Central Zone Volleyball Championship, has been honored by the Nepali government.

Organizing a ceremony at his official residence, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba honored 12 players with cash prizes of Rs 5 lakhs each. Similarly, the two coaches for the team, Jagadish Prasad Bhatta Bharat Yadav were awarded with Rs 3 lakhs each. The team manager Jyoti KC also received a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs.

The Prime minister praised the team for promoting the nation’s identity in the international championship that was held in Bangladesh during December last year. 

The team members include Aruna Shahi (captain), Manisha Kumari Chaudhary, Kamana Bist, Laxmi Chand, Usha Bhandari, Pratima Mali, Salina Shrestha, Saraswoti Shrestha, Sunita Khadka, Safiya Pun, Kripa Adhikari and Shanti Kumari Tharu.
