Two Individuals Arrested with 542 Kilograms of Marijuana in Chitwan
Chitwan, Feb 19: Authorities from the District Police Office have apprehended two individuals in possession of 542 kilograms of marijuana. The arrest was made when police inspector Shyammani Pokharel, leading a team from the area police office at Bhandara, intercepted them at 8 am today in Rapti Municipality-3 Jhurjhure while they were loading marijuana. The arrested individuals include 32-year-old Rameshnath Dahal from Chhathar Jorpate Village-3 in Dhankuta and 25-year-old Khushiram Tharu from Buddhabhumi Municipality-4 in Kapilvastu.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sriram Bhandari, spokesperson of the office, stated that a truck with license plate No. 3 Kha 6122 and a container truck with plate No. 3 Kha 7240 were seized near the East-West Lokmarg road section. The authorities discovered 39 bags of ganja being loaded onto the container truck from Malekhu in Dhading. It was found that the ganja was being concealed by secretly bringing in empty water bottles.
Bhandari further mentioned that Tharu, one of the arrested individuals, was the co-driver of the truck, while Dahal was the driver of the container. The driver of the truck is currently at large, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
