Kathmandu, Apr 28: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has initiated an examination of products from two Indian companies following concerns over food quality.

This action comes after Hong Kong’s investigation revealed elevated levels of ethylene oxide in spices sourced from two Indian spice companies.

As a result, Hong Kong has implemented a ban on the sale of certain spices from Everest and MDH. Following suit, Singapore has also prohibited the sale of products from these two companies.

MDH and Everest spices are widely popular in India and are distributed across markets in Europe, Asia, and North America.

In response to the quality controversy, Everest has asserted the safety of its products. However, there has been no official response from Everest regarding the ongoing dispute.

Meanwhile, Indian food safety authorities have also commenced investigations into the spices produced by these companies.
